Question: starts but will not fire

hey ihave a 93 dodge dakota and it will not start yesterday i stoped at my buddys after work and shut it off running good well when i went to leave it wouldnt sart turn over but wouldnt fire up well i smaked the dash bord and it fired up well the next morning it fired up went to work shut it off and went to get in it about noon it wouldnt start i even smaked the dashbord still no fire up it cranks over but wont fire up and geting fuel any ideas

try replacing the idle air control valve(on the rear of the throttle body)
